Our Stories
Dr. Cara has had a passion for helping people and all living things since childhood, but it wasn’t until completing her undergraduate studies in Biology and Chemistry that she discovered the art of helping others in a non-invasive way through becoming a Doctor of Chiropractic. She was intrigued that by using a specific skillset to help alleviate pain, patients would reduce their need for pharmaceutical interventions. Dr. Cara felt so dedicated to helping the whole person that when she found acupuncture and East Asian herbal medicine at the Northeast College of Health Sciences, a lightbulb went on as she realized she could treat or co-manage issues related to all body systems in addition to musculoskeletal conditions. Joining expertise in manual therapy from a western medical position with Traditional Chinese Medicine rooted in eastern thought and philosophy is invaluable and allows Dr. Cara to work with patients’ ailments using solutions from more than one perspective. Through her many years of clinical training and working in private practice, Dr. Cara has discovered the immeasurable joy that comes with guiding a small part of each individual patients’ path to health.
Dr. Rafael never heard of the word Chiropractic until he was 16 years old. While training as a martial artist he suffered an ankle injury that prevented him to continue training for a couple months. During this time he following the traditional methods provided by medicine, he continued to take anti inflammatory drugs as well as icing. After three weeks the swelling persisted and a friend of his recommended he visited a Chiropractor. Skeptical, but willing to try anything to help his healing and continue training martial arts, he gave it a shot. During his first appointment a full exam was performed, diagnostic imaging and his first chiropractic adjustment. He couldn’t believe that within 15 minutes, he was able to weight bare and noticed a decrease in the swelling almost instantly. From that moment on, he developed a passion to help others heal in noninvasive ways.
